China's portable oil storage cabinet capsule rupture detection device won the gold medal
On October 24th, during the 43rd International Quality Management Group Conference, the State Grid Henan Power Company made a significant achievement by winning a gold medal for their QC group project titled "Development of a Portable Oil Storage Cabinet Capsule Rupture Detection Device." This victory marks another milestone in the State Grid System's quality management activities and showcases the company's commitment to innovation and excellence.
The International Quality Management Group Conference, held in Singapore from October 22nd to 25th, is a prestigious global event organized by 13 international organizations, including the Singapore Productivity Association, Japan Science and Technology Alliance, and the Korea Standardization Association. With over 475 entries from nearly 20 countries and regions, the competition was highly intense. As the sole representative from the State Grid Corporation, the Henan Maintenance Company stood out among the competition and secured the gold award with their innovative solution.
This groundbreaking device uses a portable fiber optic sensing technology to detect capsule ruptures in oil storage cabinets. Unlike traditional air pressure inspection methods, which require three personnel and take about 125.8 minutes per operation, this new system reduces the number of workers needed to two and cuts the time required to just 30.4 minutes—saving 76% of the time. This not only improves efficiency but also minimizes risks such as damage to the respirator or pressure release valve, reducing power outage times and enhancing grid reliability.
The project has received high praise from international judges and delegates, reflecting the growing recognition of the State Grid Henan Power Company’s efforts in quality management and technical innovation.
