**Work Steps**
1. **Feeding:** As a standard design, plastic scraps such as film, filament, and raffias are conveyed into the compacting room through a belt conveyor. For handling rolls' scraps, a roll hauling-off device is an optional feeding method. The motor drives of the conveyor belt and hauling device work with an ABB inverter. The feeding speed of the conveyor belt or roll hauling-off is fully automatic based on how full the compactor's chamber is. A metal detector can be combined with the belt conveyor and interlocked with the control system to warn and stop the system if metal is detected during feeding.
2. **Crushing and Compacting:** The rotating blades of the compactor cut up incoming scraps. Frictional heating caused by high-speed rotating blades heats and shrinks the scraps just below their agglomeration point. An optimally designed guide structure compacts the material and directs it into the extruder screw. This process crushes, dries, and compacts the material, enabling fast and stable feeding from the compactor directly into the extruder.
3. **Plasticization and Degassing:** A specialized single-screw extruder is used to gently melt the pre-compacted material. The plastic scraps are well melted and plasticized in a 32 to 34D processing section. With a double-zone vacuum degassing system, volatile substances such as low molecular compounds and moisture are efficiently removed, making it especially suitable for heavy printed films and materials with some moisture content.
4. **Melt Filtration:** A regular single-plate/piston double-station screen changer or a non-stop double-plate/piston four-station unit can be installed at the head of the extruder to provide significant filtration performance. The filtration requirements depend heavily on the quality of the input material and the planned use of the granules.
5. **Pelletizing:** The die-face water ring pelletizing system is set as the standard granulating method in the MLsystem. A self-adjusting pelletizing head ensures the best granulate quality and long uptime due to consistent blade pressure. The RPM of the rotating blades is automatically adjusted based on the melt extrusion pressure. An advanced dewatering vibration sieve combined with a horizontal-type centrifugal dewatering system delivers high-performance dried pellets.
