2001 Chevrolet Express EXTENDED SPORTS VAN, 5.7L V8 OHV 16V.

This vehicle does not start and must be towed. Cranks with a jump but won’t fire.

It was driven in for a transmission slipping problem and parked for several months now it won’t start. The vehicle was maintained every 3,000 miles by the City of Elgin’s Fleet Division. The vehicle was removed from service in May 2024 and is now ready for auction.

The vehicle is red and does not have any cracked glass. The vehicle does have RUST (as seen in pictures), dents, scratches, and dings. The tires are in good condition.

The vehicle has a grey vinyl interior and is in poor condition (as seen in pictures). The seats, dash, and floor all have wear/damage. The sliding side door does not open and the door panel is removed but still in the van. The vehicle has a stock AM/FM radio. Light bar is missing the controller. The AC condition is unknown.

This 2001 Chevrolet Express is currently up for auction on GovDeals, and it's quite an unusual find. It's a used van that was once part of the City of Elgin's fleet and has been sitting idle since May 2024. Despite its rough condition, it might still be worth considering if you're looking for a project or parts vehicle.

It's important to note that this van doesn't start on its own and will need to be towed. While it cranks with a jump, it fails to fire. This could be due to a variety of issues, such as a faulty ignition system, fuel delivery problems, or even internal engine damage. The previous owner had it brought in for a transmission issue, which led to it being parked for months without further use.

The exterior is in decent shape, with no cracked glass, though rust is visible in some areas. There are also dents, scratches, and dings, which are common for a vehicle that's been in service for over two decades. The tires are in good condition, so that’s a positive point.

Inside, the van is in poor condition, with worn-out seats, a damaged dashboard, and a floor that shows heavy use. The sliding side door isn’t functional, and the door panel is missing. The original AM/FM radio is still there, but the light bar lacks a controller. The AC system is also unknown in terms of functionality.

If you're interested in this van, make sure to review the photos carefully and consider getting a professional inspection before placing a bid. It may not be a reliable daily driver, but it could be a great opportunity for someone looking to restore or salvage parts.

Rear Bumper

Car rear bumper
The rear bumper is an important part installed at the rear of the car. It mainly protects the rear structure of the vehicle, decorates the body, and absorbs energy and reduces damage during collisions. It is usually made of plastic, metal or composite materials, coordinated with the overall shape of the car body, adding beauty to the vehicle while providing safety protection.

Collision buffer:
When a vehicle is hit from behind, the rear bumper is the first line of defense, absorbing and dispersing the impact energy, reducing damage to the vehicle structure and passengers. Through its own deformation and internal buffer structure, it effectively reduces the impact of the collision and protects key vehicle components such as the trunk, taillights, and rear suspension.

Design:
The shape of the rear bumper is usually coordinated with the style of the whole vehicle, adding a unique visual effect to the rear of the car. Its lines and shapes can be smoothly integrated with the body of the car, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. The rear bumper designs of different models have their own characteristics, some are simple and generous, and some are sporty and fashionable, meeting the different aesthetic needs of consumers.

Trailer hook installation:
Some models have a trailer hook installation hole on the rear bumper, which is convenient for installing a trailer hook when needed to realize the vehicle's towing function. This is very practical for users who need to tow large items such as RVs and yachts.
