Intelligent monitoring system development provides guarantee for safe operation of high-speed trains

The **China Instrument Network Instrument R&D** has made remarkable progress in the research of high-speed train travel security technology under the national key R&D program "Advanced Rail Transit" and its key project "Railway System Security Technology." However, the number of monitored points is limited, and the coverage and system integration are not sufficient to enable early warnings of potential failures in these components. As service demands for high-speed trains continue to rise, there's a growing need to upgrade existing monitoring and early warning technologies. To address this, the newly developed "High-speed Train Moving Department Intelligent Safety Guarantee System" enhances monitoring capabilities by increasing the number of sensors and improving early warning accuracy. This system significantly reduces equipment failure rates and improves overall operational safety. The system employs temperature-vibration composite sensing technology to monitor key rotating parts such as axle box bearings, gear box bearings, motor bearings, and gears. Through in-depth research on fault characteristics and identification methods in complex operating environments, it enables early detection of potential failures. It also investigates abnormal vibrations and temperature changes caused by shape damage in the axle box, establishing an online identification model for minor faults. By analyzing temperature and vibration data from the axle box, it indirectly identifies damage in other components like wheel alignment. Additionally, the system integrates warehouse inspection data with advanced evaluation and prediction technologies to assess the dynamic performance of the train’s running department. This allows for a comprehensive safety evaluation after each maintenance cycle, achieving seamless integration between maintenance and assessment. Throughout the development process, the project has overcome several key technological challenges, including time-space-cycle fault depth analysis, reliability analysis for small sample data, and residual life prediction for critical components. These innovations provide a solid foundation for safe train operations and precise maintenance, ensuring enhanced security and scientific support for railway systems.
