Intelligent monitoring system development provides guarantee for safe operation of high-speed trains

The **China Instrument Network Instrument R&D** has made significant progress in the research of high-speed train travel security technology under the national key R&D program "Advanced Rail Transit" and its key project "Railway System Security Technology." However, the number of monitoring points is limited, leading to insufficient coverage and weak system integration. As a result, it's challenging to detect early failures in these components. With increasing service demands, the existing monitoring and early warning technologies need improvement. The newly developed “High-speed Train Moving Department Intelligent Safety Guarantee System” enhances monitoring capabilities, improves early warning accuracy, and effectively reduces equipment failures and accident rates. It uses a temperature-vibration composite sensing technology to monitor key rotating parts such as axle box bearings, gear box bearings, motor bearings, and gears. By analyzing fault characteristics and identification methods in complex operating environments, the system enables early warnings of potential failures. It also studies abnormal vibrations and temperature changes caused by shape damage in the axle box, establishing a model for identifying minor faults. Through temperature and vibration data from the axle box, it indirectly detects damage in other components like wheel alignment. Additionally, the system integrates warehouse inspection information with dynamic performance evaluation and prediction technologies, enabling a comprehensive assessment of the running department’s overall safety after each maintenance cycle. This integration supports both maintenance and safety evaluation processes. During development, the project overcame several key technologies, including time-space-cycle fault analysis, reliability analysis for small sample data, and residual life prediction for critical components. These advancements provide a reliable foundation for safe train operations and precise maintenance. This intelligent monitoring system is a crucial step forward in ensuring the safety and efficiency of high-speed rail networks.
