House fire near Palatine, 7-19-23

Palatine firefighters were called to a fire at a detached garage on Hill Road in an unincorporated area of Cook County, near Palatine. Multiple neighbors reported heavy flames, and the homeowner was unable to locate her daughter or husband. Upon arrival, the responding units found a large fire that had quickly escalated to a Code 4 working fire. Engine 81 arrived at a two-story home with an **attached** garage that was fully engulfed. Firefighters stretched a 2Â½-inch attack line and another engine deployed a second line to the C-D corner, where heavy fire was also present. A third line was brought into the house as the flames had spread inside. The daughter was trapped on the second floor due to thick smoke, and firefighters managed to rescue her and bring her outside. No other occupants were found inside the structure. The fire was under control within approximately 20 minutes, but the house suffered significant damage. Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading further. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no injuries have been reported.
