Naperville reassignments …. requires a scorecard

Several months ago, we posted an update on the Naperville Fire Department to the site. A group of photographers visited the department on different occasions to capture the latest equipment and the current placement of units at each station. Some of the rigs had been relocated or reassigned since they were last photographed a year or so ago, but with the assistance of Naperville Lt. Andy Hilk, everything was updated and ready for the posting. Well, we recently received word that the Naperville FD was still in the process of moving companies around and that more changes were expected. Bill Friedrich shared some new details about the reassignments across the stations: - Medic 9 is currently out of service. - Medic 1 is now operating the 2007 IHC/Medtec unit that was previously assigned to Medic 9. - Squad 1 (a 1997 E-One) has returned to Station 8 and is now known as Squad 8 — once again. - The 2008 Crimson engine that was Engine 8 has moved back to Station 1 and is now Engine 1. - The 2009 Crimson quint from Truck 10 is now running as Truck 5. - The 2005 E-One tower ladder that used to be Truck 5 is now a spare unit. - The 1994 E-One tower ladder without a pump, which was in reserve, has been decommissioned and is likely going up for sale. - Engine 10 is now using a 2005 E-One Typhoon. - The TRT trailer is being relocated to Station 10. We’ve included a couple of images to give you a visual of the changes. The first photo shows Squad 8 when it was stationed at Station 1 before being renumbered. The second image captures Engine 1 when it was originally assigned to Station 1 — before it was later labeled as Engine 8. These updates reflect the ongoing evolution of the Naperville Fire Department as they continue to optimize their resources and operations.
