Cummins sales hit a new high in the third quarter

In recent years, the China National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products (CNCPPB), along with local drug testing institutes, has been continuously refining existing methods and developing rapid inspection techniques to maximize the effectiveness of mobile drug testing units. The second-generation drug testing vehicle has now been successfully developed and is being deployed in anti-counterfeiting efforts in third-world countries, as well as supporting international procurement initiatives by the World Health Organization (WHO). Jin Shaohong, Executive Deputy Director of the Central Inspection Institute, highlighted that the institute has thoroughly revised and expanded its drug inspection protocols. The 2008 edition of the "Drug Quick Check Workbook" includes 182 Chinese patent medicines, 229 traditional herbal medicines, and 505 rapid chemical drug testing methods. These cover most commonly used drugs and are expected to be uploaded to the National Food and Drug Administration's data network for drug testing vehicles by year-end, enhancing the efficiency of drug supervision and screening. The CNCPPB has also made significant progress in near-infrared detection technology for pharmaceuticals. It has implemented 405 qualitative and 53 quantitative near-infrared models already installed on testing vehicles, improving the accuracy of general models through comprehensive maintenance. Additionally, targeted training and research have been conducted to enhance the practical use of these mobile units. For example, the institute has explored the development of near-infrared screening models to detect illegal additions such as sildenafil and metformin in traditional Chinese medicines. They have also used near-infrared technology to monitor the quality of imported drugs and established rapid screening methods for 11 types of hypoglycemic Western medicines using thin-layer chromatography systems. A fast chemical screening method was also developed to detect the illegal addition of sibutramine hydrochloride in traditional medicines. Local pharmaceutical inspection institutes have also created near-infrared screening models tailored to specific Chinese herbal medicines, such as borneol, cinnabar powder (Shuifei cinnabar), Puhuang, Huangqi tablets, and artificial bezoar, according to regional needs. Furthermore, Jin Shaohong noted that the Central Inspection and Quarantine Institute has continued to improve the information management system for drug testing vehicles and updated the onboard database. As of October 16, 2008, the drug approval number database within the system has been fully updated. The operating system of the onboard software has also been enhanced, enabling better integration with near-infrared analysis tools and drug sampling data, thus improving overall operational efficiency.
