Handan Steel Coking Desulfurization Waste Liquid Treatment Process Blank

Yanzhou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. has successfully secured a national invention patent for its desulfurization waste liquid processing technology. This achievement marks a major breakthrough in domestic desulfurization technology, offering a proven solution to the challenges faced by the coking industry in dealing with HPF process issues. The technology plays a vital role in addressing the environmental pollution caused by desulfurization waste liquid and promoting clean production practices. The desulfurization waste liquid generated during the operation of coke oven gas desulfurization systems is a highly complex mixture that cannot be directly treated like other industrial wastewater. Traditionally, it was either discharged into coal yards or mixed with coking coal for simple treatment, or even evaporated. However, these methods come with significant drawbacks, limiting the long-term stability of the coking plant and hindering sustainable development. To address these challenges, the Handan Coking Plant initiated a chemical process approach aimed at neutralizing harmful components in the desulfurization waste liquid. This effort was based on extensive data collection and analysis conducted by technical teams both domestically and internationally. The proposed decomposition method was quickly integrated into the technological development plan of Shaoguan Steel. With the support of the company, the coking plant and the technical center collaborated with a local institution to conduct laboratory feasibility tests. After numerous trials and problem-solving efforts, the project eventually succeeded, marking a key milestone in the field. The application of this innovative technology has delivered impressive economic and social benefits. First, it can process up to 10 tons of desulfurization waste liquid daily, reducing the COD level from 160,000 mg/L to 10,000 mg/L. Further ammonia distillation allows the solution to meet the requirements for biological dephenolization. Second, after biological dephenolization and decyanation, the treated water meets second-grade industrial water standards, making it suitable for quenching purposes and significantly reducing water consumption. Third, the solid thiocyanate produced through this chemical process improves upon traditional evaporation methods, achieving high purity that meets national standards and offering strong market potential. Finally, the entire issue of waste liquid discharge and pollution has been effectively resolved, enabling true clean production within the original desulfurization process.
