In 2009, at the Shanghai International Auto Show, Shaanxi Automobile Group unveiled its three-year "Green New Energy Vehicle Development Plan." Three years later, the company had already made significant progress in the new energy vehicle sector. According to reports, new energy heavy trucks accounted for over 5% of the group's total sales volume, while new energy passenger cars represented 50% of the group’s overall bus fleet. Additionally, the company was producing 5,000 miniature electric vehicles and 60,000 miniature electric vehicle axles annually. Yuan Hongming, the general manager of Shaanxi Auto Group, expressed confidence in the company’s future in the new energy market. He stated that by 2012, Shaanxi Auto would take a leading position in the domestic market for new energy passenger cars, trucks, and micro-electric vehicles. At the time, most of China's new energy truck production was focused on light-duty models. In the heavy truck segment, some companies were starting to develop and promote LNG-powered trucks, but very few were actively involved in pure electric or hybrid technologies. Shaanxi Automobile’s plan aimed to change this by fully developing a range of green commercial vehicles, including CNG and LNG heavy trucks, electric port low-speed tractors, hybrid city trucks, and DME (Dimethyl Ether) vehicles. This comprehensive approach showcased the company's commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and positioned it as a key player in the emerging green vehicle market.
