3D printing has new uses: self-made adjustable lens

March 25 news, a recent technology called Christopher's patent with 3D printing technology successfully printed its own adjustable lens. His idea was to create an inflatable bladder with two pieces of clear, neat plastic and then fill it with liquid. Different liquid filling levels can create different pressures, so that the plastic film into different shapes. In this way, adjustable lens was born.

Christopher said he was inspired by Josh Silver's TED presentation, which focused on adjustable liquid-filled glasses.

During assembly, he squeezed two 3D-printed frame structures together to secure the middle plastic film. He then welded two such devices and helped secure them with some 3D-printed clips. Finally, he used a heat-shrink tubing as a hose bridge connecting the syringe to the inflatable bladder, adjusting the lens by filling the bladder with water to eventually refraction.

Carboxy Methyl Cellulose

There are two types of Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, alkaline and neutral, depending on the application. Alkaline, industrial low viscosity (2% aqueous solution) 0.2~0.5Pa·s; neutral, industrial medium viscosity (2% aqueous solution) 0.3~0.6Pa ·S, industrial high viscosity (2% aqueous solution) 0.8~1.0Pa·s.

It's widely used in oil industry drilling mud treatment agent, synthetic Detergent, organic builder, textile printing and dyeing sizing agent, daily-use chemical products water-soluble colloidal tackifier, tackifier and emulsifier for pharmaceutical industry, and food industry Thickener, adhesive for ceramic industry, industrial paste, sizing agent for paper industry, etc. Used as flocculant in Water Treatment, mainly used for wastewater sludge treatment, can increase the solid content of filter cake.
