Second round of China-EU solar energy trade negotiations

Second round of China-EU solar energy trade negotiations It is reported that the second round of China-EU solar energy trade talks was launched on June 24th. The current progress does not seem to be smooth. The two sides have different views on the price increase rate of Chinese solar energy companies exporting EU products. At present, the negotiations have reached an impasse and the two sides are in a state of see-saw.

According to authoritative sources in the industry, the EU proposes that Chinese solar modules sell for 0.65 euros per watt, while the Chinese said they can accept the price of 0.5 US dollars per watt. Both sides have not made any concessions. At present, some German companies in Europe are selling solar modules for less than 0.58 euros/watt.

Therefore, the industry began to worry about the final tax rate of 47.6% on August 6. Many Chinese solar first-line companies started delaying shipping to Europe. Jingao and Yingli have made it clear that due to the great uncertainty in the anti-dumping tax rate, shipments of components to countries such as Europe have stopped, and shipments to Europe will not be resumed until the end of July.

EU Trade Commissioner De Gucht once said on June 21 that in the coming days or weeks, China and Europe will find a friendly solution to trade disputes. The remarks seem to make Chinese solar companies see a glimmer of hope, but it seems that it will eventually be difficult to achieve with a settlement.
