China Telecom and Ericsson Jointly Build IoT Global Connections

[New concept of China Instrument Network Instrumentation] On July 15, 2016, China Telecom Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “China Telecom”) held Tianyi Intelligent Terminal Trade Fair in Guangzhou. During the period, Ericsson and China Telecom signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Internet of Things (IoT) connection management collaboration to jointly build a global Internet of Things (IoT) connection and provide one-stop global IoT connectivity services for corporate customers.

According to the memorandum of understanding, China Telecom and Ericsson will conduct comprehensive cooperation on IoT connectivity services in the next five years. Both parties will provide global IoT connectivity services based on the industry-leading Device Connectivity Platform (DCP).

China Telecom will use the DCP to satisfy IoT customers' rapid deployment of IoT devices worldwide and support customers to efficiently and flexibly manage the full life cycle of IoT products. Corporate customers will be able to access China Telecom's network quickly and seamlessly through DCP.

Gao Tongqing, deputy general manager of China Telecom, said: “The professional global global IoT connection management platform based on cloud architecture enables operators to realize global collaboration and cooperation, and provide customers with unified standards and processes for IoT device management, order management, and network connection management. With a flexible billing model, customers can seamlessly deploy and manage their IoT devices globally to ensure a unified global service process, a unified user experience, and a significant increase in efficiency and cost reduction. ."

Eric Zhao, President of Ericsson China, said: “The Internet of Things is a fast-growing area and by 2021, the number of global interconnected terminals will reach 28 billion units, of which 16 billion will be connected to the Internet of Things. IoT applications will help promote 5G. With the development of technology, we actively cooperate with China Telecom and strive to accelerate the large-scale deployment of the Internet of Things in the world."

With the development of the mobile “Internet”, the Internet of Things business has been transformed from traditional closed object-to-material communications to an open, international, all-in-one internet of things. More and more international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have put forward more and more sophisticated IoT requirements, such as: a globally unified management platform, simplification of the docking of global operators, and simple and quick service support capabilities. Since 2008, Ericsson's DCP platform has provided Internet of Things connectivity management solutions and services to multiple operators around the world. Currently, it supports more than 20 operators, covers more than 100 countries and regions, and serves more than 1,500 companies worldwide. .
