“Global Geodetic Benchmark Dynamic Correction and Service†project passed the acceptance
On October 10, 2018, the "Global Geodetic Benchmark Dynamic Correction and Service" project under the National 863 Program in the field of Earth observation and navigation technology successfully passed its acceptance inspection organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. This milestone marks a significant achievement in China's efforts to develop an advanced geospatial framework.
The project focuses on non-autonomous benchmark parameter determination, integration of multiple technologies, and establishing static regional benchmarks based on single GPS technology. It aims to maintain a global dynamic geocentric coordinate reference frame and modernize elevation benchmarks. Researchers have developed various models, including a three-dimensional variation inversion model of the Earth's centroid, combined with seafloor pressure and GNSS monitoring, land site distribution equilibrium evaluation, global plate motion, and nonlinear changes in frame points. These models address key challenges such as dynamic global reference system parameter determination, multi-source data fusion, refinement of the global coordinate frame, and big data processing.
A software framework for integrated processing and distributed data management of the geocentric coordinate reference system has also been developed. Through this project, China has established an independent theory and methodology system for constructing and maintaining a global dynamic framework. Most of the technical approaches have reached world-leading standards, with results comparable to international equivalents. These advancements support national economic development, defense, scientific research, and the modernization of surveying and mapping industries.
The project provides critical technical support for high-precision dynamic benchmarks, offering a unified framework for implementing the national "Belt and Road" initiative. The results play a vital role in building and maintaining the Beidou global benchmark with Chinese characteristics, promoting the growth of Beidou-related industries and opening up wide application opportunities. Some of the outcomes have already been applied in national benchmarks, major projects, and local provincial benchmark maintenance.
