2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 2-12-18 (more)

It's February 12, 2018, and I'm back with more updates from the intense 2-11 Alarm fire that broke out on South Chicago Avenue near 71st Street in Chicago. The weather has been brutal—bone-chilling temperatures with heavy snow blanketing the area, making it even tougher for firefighters to battle this blaze. As usual, the first responders wasted no time jumping into action, managing to save at least one person who was trapped inside. The scene was chaotic but controlled, with multiple pieces of equipment deployed to tackle the inferno. I managed to snap some photos and even recorded a short video, which you can check out later if you're interested. The images really capture the scale and intensity of the situation, especially the massive tower ladder trucks and engine units working tirelessly to douse the flames. Here’s a quick rundown of what I saw: 1. **Chicago FD Tower Ladder 37**: This truck played a critical role in reaching higher levels of the building. It looked like it had been working nonstop, its crew covered in soot but determined to get the job done. 2. **Chicago FD Engine 122**: Positioned strategically, this unit was pumping water like clockwork, its hoses snaking across the snowy pavement. 3. **Chicago FD Engine 72**: Another key player in the operation, this engine was parked close to the action, its crew coordinating with others to ensure maximum efficiency. 4. **Master Streams in Action**: Multiple elevated master streams were being used to blanket the structure, creating an impressive yet daunting display of power against the raging fire. 5. **Chicago FD Squad 5A**: This versatile squad unit was on standby, ready to assist wherever needed, adding to the overall coordinated effort. 6. **Chicago FD Engine 47**: Seen further back, this engine supported the front-line units by maintaining water supply lines under challenging conditions. The entire event felt surreal given how quickly the fire spread despite the efforts of hundreds of firefighters. Watching these professionals work in such adverse conditions is humbling. I’ll post the full set of images and video later today so everyone can get a better sense of just how dramatic this fire was. Stay safe out there, folks!
