Valentine's Day Grilling For Two

Grilling Romance on Valentine’s Day

A 3-minute read | Culinary Tips

As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s the perfect time to plan a memorable celebration with your loved one. While dining out at a fancy restaurant might seem like the obvious choice, there’s something uniquely special about preparing a meal together at home. It adds an extra layer of intimacy and effort that can make the evening truly unforgettable.

Let’s explore some Valentine’s Day dinner ideas to inspire your grilling adventure for two.

Finding the Ideal Recipe

Before you think about ambiance, lighting, and seating arrangements, the most important part of your evening is deciding what to cook. Think about what dishes both you and your partner would savor. Whether it’s pasta, burgers, soup, or a hearty steak, choosing the right meal is key. A grilled Filet Mignon is always a crowd-pleaser, especially for those new to grilling. The following simple Grilled Filet Mignon recipe includes a side of grilled veggies, and it serves four. You can either follow the recipe as is for leftovers or halve the ingredients to serve just the two of you.

Preparation time is only 7 minutes, and total cooking time is 19 minutes, with 12 minutes spent grilling.

Gather Your Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons of sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons of coarse ground black pepper
  • 4 filet mignons (each about 1 3/4 inches thick)
  • 1 tablespoon of avocado oil (or grapeseed oil)

Step-by-Step Cooking Guide

  • Preheat the gas grill to high heat.
  • Mix the salt and pepper, then generously season both sides of each filet mignon.
  • Brush the grill grates with avocado oil to prevent sticking.
  • Grill each side of the steak for 5 to 6 minutes for medium-well, adjusting according to your preference.
  • After removing the steaks from the grill, let them rest for 5 minutes to lock in the juices.

While the steaks are cooking, you can grill your veggies wrapped in aluminum foil for about 10 minutes. If you prefer, you can also grill potatoes alongside the steaks. Poke holes in them, wrap them in foil, and place them on the cooler part of the grill. They’ll take longer to cook, so start them earlier than the steaks.

Once everything is cooked to your liking, set it aside until you’re ready to serve. Keeping your PGS grill on low or in warming mode will ensure the food stays hot and fresh until dinnertime.

Setting the Mood Outdoors

With the meal sorted, it’s time to create a cozy and romantic atmosphere outdoors. After all, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating your bond with your partner. Consider adding a touch of warmth with an Ambiance Mini tabletop fire feature. Make sure the seating area is comfortable and inviting, even in colder weather. A patio heater can keep things cozy. Always follow safety guidelines when using fire features or heaters—read the instructions carefully to avoid accidents.

Enjoy your Valentine’s Day dinner for two!
