2-Alarm fire in Elmwood Park, 2-6-15 (more)
From Code Photography:
Over the weekend, I captured some images and even a video of a two-alarm fire that broke out in Elmwood Park. The incident started when companies responded to a report of a machine on fire at 35 Conti Parkway, which is part of the circular area there. As firefighters tried to tackle the blaze, they encountered challenges reaching the flames in the rear of the building using just one hose line. This led to a request for additional support, and things took a turn for the worse as smoke conditions escalated rapidly.
Simultaneously, it became apparent that there was another issue at 36 Conti Parkway, prompting command to call in the first box alarm. Despite initial efforts to control the fire internally, the situation eventually shifted to a more defensive strategy. This prompted the request for a second alarm, signaling the severity of the incident.
Here are some of the visuals I managed to capture during this event. The heavy smoke billowing from the commercial structure was quite dramatic, and you can see how intense the situation became through these images.

The presence of the E-ONE quint, a versatile firefighting vehicle, underscores the complexity of the operation required to handle such a blaze.

Even from a distance, the scale of the fire was evident, with thick plumes of smoke dominating the skyline.

These photographs offer a glimpse into the chaos and the immense effort put forth by emergency responders to contain the fire before it spread further.

Additionally, here’s the video footage that documents the progression of the fire and the coordinated response by the firefighting teams.
