2-Alarm fire in Norridge, 1-7-15 (more)

Late last night, around 5 AM on Tuesday, January 7th, a massive fire broke out in a huge home in the town of Norridge. The temperature was well below freezing, making conditions incredibly harsh for firefighters. From what I understand, the house was built using modern lightweight construction methods, including trusses, which can be more susceptible to collapse under fire conditions. Access to the area was limited as it's located on a small intersection with only two ways in. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire already present and quickly realized that obtaining water would be a significant challenge due to frozen hydrants. There were initial reports of several people trapped or unaccounted for, leading to immediate search efforts. Thankfully, all occupants were confirmed safe early in the operation. Despite these efforts, the fire spread rapidly and ultimately consumed the entire structure, which was later demolished later that same day. The firefighters worked tirelessly, deploying a few handlines and operating the Leyden aerial pipe. Eventually, they had to call for a tanker from Prospect Heights to supply water to the Schiller Park tower. By the time I left the scene, they were still hard at work. Attached are some of the many photos I managed to take during the incident. It's always tough to see such a large structure go up in flames, especially when the weather adds an extra layer of difficulty.
