2-Alarm fire in Elmwood Park, 2-6-15 (more)

This just came in from Code Photography regarding the two-alarm fire in Elmwood Park. Here's what happened according to their report: Elmwood Park emergency services were initially called to a report of a machine on fire at 35 Conti Parkway, which is part of the circular area there. When firefighters arrived, they found that the fire had spread beyond the initial machine and had reached the rear section of the building. The firefighters inside encountered difficulty accessing the flames directly with their hose lines, so they requested additional support in the form of a second hose line. Meanwhile, worsening smoke conditions prompted the incident commander to investigate further. It was then discovered that there was also a fire at 36 Conti Parkway, leading to the activation of the first box alarm. As the situation escalated, the decision was made to transition to a more defensive firefighting strategy, which resulted in a second alarm being called. Attached are several images capturing the intensity of the heavy smoke billowing from the commercial building. These photos really emphasize the scale of the fire and the quick response by the local emergency teams. You can see one image featuring an E-ONE quint apparatus at the scene, highlighting the advanced equipment brought in to handle such incidents. There are also multiple shots showing the thick plumes of smoke rising high into the air, making it clear how challenging the situation must have been for the firefighters. For those interested in seeing more visuals from this event, Code Photography has shared additional photos under the title "2nd Alarm Apartment Fire (2/6/15)." This collection offers even greater detail about the unfolding events and the efforts made to control the blaze. If you want to catch up on the full scope of the firefighting operation, be sure to check out their page for more insights and imagery. The video embedded below provides further context, giving viewers a dynamic view of the scene as it unfolded. It’s worth noting that these types of fires often require coordinated efforts from multiple agencies, and the footage does a good job of illustrating the complexity involved in managing such emergencies. Overall, it’s a powerful reminder of the dedication and skill required by our local firefighters when dealing with situations like this. Let’s hope everyone involved remains safe as they work tirelessly to bring these fires under control.
