Chicago working fire, January 7, 2015

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I just wanted to share some photos from a recent working fire that happened back in January. It was one of those quieter months here in the city when it comes to major fires, so I figured I'd post these images to keep things interesting. The fire took place on January 7th at 1416 South Ridgeway. Interestingly enough, it was only a couple of hours after another smaller fire—a still and box alarm—happened about seven blocks away at 1514 South Kostner. The weather was absolutely freezing that day, as you can imagine, which made things even more challenging for the firefighters. They’re all courtesy of Drew Gresik, who does an amazing job capturing the intensity and scale of these events. [First Image Caption] This image shows the intense flames consuming part of the building. You can see the firefighters working hard to bring the situation under control. The equipment and personnel are fully deployed, showing just how coordinated their efforts need to be. [Third Image Caption] Here’s a shot of the fire trucks lined up and ready to go.
