Geneva Fire Fox River Rescue/Recovery, 4-19-14
As I was hanging around the area, I heard a call go out about two people being stranded in the Fox River near State Street (Route 38) in downtown Geneva. Since I was nearby, I thought I’d head over there to check it out. By the time I got there and started walking toward the scene, Geneva Medic 252 was already leaving for the hospital with the first person who had been rescued. That happened roughly 20 minutes after the initial call came in. The second victim wasn’t pulled out of the river until around 1820 hours.
It was fascinating to see how they handled the water rescue. I’ve never witnessed anything like it before. Unfortunately, I only had my phone with me instead of my camera, but I managed to snap a few photos. One of them even features Geneva’s newer Engine 207.
